An experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer is required to support the delivery of a large-scale, mission-critical data centre project in Amsterdam. This is a senior, site-based engineering role with responsibility across the full mechanical lifecycle, from design coordination and installation through to testing, commissioning, and handover.

You will work closely with the Project Manager, MEP Lead, Commissioning Team, and subcontract partners to ensure mechanical systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with programme, quality, and client requirements. This role suits a hands-on engineer with strong technical depth and experience operating in fast-paced, design-and-build environments.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the mechanical systems package from design review through installation, testing, and commissioning
  • Review IFC drawings, specifications, and technical submittals to identify clashes, design gaps, and buildability issues
  • Coordinate mechanical services with electrical, CSA, BIM, and commissioning teams to ensure integrated delivery
  • Monitor site installation works to ensure compliance with design intent, specifications, quality standards, and HSEQ requirements
  • Support programme management by tracking progress, identifying risks, and contributing to short-term and long-term lookaheads
  • Interface with consultants, vendors, and client representatives to resolve technical queries and maintain programme alignment
  • Support subcontractor management, including manpower planning, progress tracking, and technical compliance
  • Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments, and technical documentation for mechanical works
  • Support FATs, SATs, and IST activities for mechanical plant and systems
  • Assist with snagging, defect management, and close-out activities to achieve zero-defect handover
  • Contribute to commissioning planning and sequencing in coordination with the wider Cx team
  • Ensure all mechanical works are executed in line with project quality plans and safety management systems

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineering role within large-scale construction projects
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems in data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or mission-critical environments
  • Experience working in design & build contracting environments
  • Good understanding of mechanical commissioning processes and system interfaces
  • Strong coordination and communication skills, with confidence engaging multiple stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM tools advantageous
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working effectively in high-pressure site environments
